Hi there! This is a quick tutorial on how to use the No Waste Method for Flying Geese. This method will yield 4 geese units, so it is often my go to method. It’s pretty simple so here we go!
To start, you will need one larger square which will be the color of your geese, and 4 smaller squares, which are your sky.
The measurements of each will depend on the desired finished size of the unit – please refer to the below chart for some common sizing.
For this tutorial, I went with a finished size of 2” x 4”, so my large square to start with was 5.25” and the small squares were 2 7/8”.
Okay – the first step is to place two smaller squares (RST) on your larger square in opposite corners and pin.
Mark a line from one corner to the other.
Stitch a ¼ inch on each side of that line.
Cut on the marked line and press the corners away from the goose section.
For each of the two units, place a remaining square in the corner and pin.
Mark a line from one corner to the other (towards the center of the sky blocks).
Stitch a ¼ inch on either side of that line.
Cut on the marked line and press the corners away from the goose section.
Congratulations, you now have 4 flying geese for use in your project!
